Has anyone tried this function in Forscan?
Any success?
Apparently these PIDS should count up to 7 as the system relearns?
This is based on what i've read regarding other Ford diesels such as in the Mondeo.
They only had four INJ_LRN_Cx PIDs.
For those cars the procedure was to drive the car and take the RPM up to 2500 then let the rpm drop naturally (not by braking) down to 1500rpm while still in gear. Accelerate back up again to 2500rpm, slow to 1500rpm.
Had to be in any gear above 2.
This had to be repeated few times until the PID indicates 7.
This apparently can help with fuel consumption issues or combustion knocks(tapping from engine).
My Ranger 2.2 suddenly has worse consumption after being at the dealer but no record of any PCM update being done at that time.
The vehicle drives the same just uses more diesel.
I want to try this and see if it helps at all I just can't find any information on it having been done on a Ranger.

Nope, they will just relearn quickly anyway and be back where they were.
Try it, in Forscan go to the spanner menu and reset all adaptions and high pressure fuel learned values.

I have tried both resets.
Oddly, the vehicle feels better in terms of response and pull in gear.
The thing is i don't know if the relearn occurs or what the numbers should be?
Since the original post I drove a few long trips (total 400km's) and when i checked the values yesterday only INJ_LRN_CNT_C1 and C3 had a "1" the other two were "0".
All other LRN PIDs are still zero.
Before my post i did the reset procedure and then went for a drive with live streaming on.
I got one CNT pid change to a "1" and another showed "4096".
This was with me trying the driving to high rpm then letting it come down in gear to 1500rpm.
I'm puzzled as to how the consumption suddenly increases like it has.
The fact that I seem to have more pronounced injector rattle/combustion knock lead me to this hoping it would help.
This coupled with the cold start hesitation on light throttle acceleration around 2000rpm.
Perhaps injectors are going...

Possibly your suction control valve is sticking or dirty. Try running some of this through it https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/liq ... 95988.html
If the injectors were having issues you would see a fault code and have seen many.
I had issues a long time back with this valve, now I run this every 5th tank or so and have not had an issue in the last 65,000km.
Note it will not clear up in 2 seconds.

I have run two bottles of LiquiMoly through the tank (2 tanks apart) and changed fuel brand.
I'm not convinced I'll get all fault codes that perhaps you in Australia get.
For example my vehicle does not have any EGT sensors, not even the one for the EGR valve...

Update on my issue.
I've found that if i leave the ignition in the "On" position for say 30 seconds before startup the vehicle smokes a lot.
A cloud of white/light grey smoke pumps out the exhaust for 10 seconds odd then settles to less smoking.
The engine even revved up to 1500rpm for 3 seconds when i started then settled again to normal idle.
If i turn the key and start almost immediately it still smokes but not as badly as when i wait 30 seconds to start.
The smoking subsides after a bit of driving.
This is at cooler temps of 10 degrees Celsius.
Afternoon startups are not noticeable but the smell of burn diesel is quite noticeable.
Leaking injectors? That's my guess.
Temperature sensors are reading correctly.

Leaking injectors would also show a fault if in fact they are leaking.

So it appears that the dealership only knew about this update yesterday which Forscan has been indicating since I got the vehicle Dec 2018...
PCM has been updated to the latest know indicated above by Forscan. I checked this morning.
My vehicle has been to this dealership 3 times this year and to the one I bought it from twice!
Odd that Forscan indicates updates for most of the modules on this vehicle but dealership only updates the PCM.
No indication yet whether this update does anything to the injector rattle or smokey cold startups.
Temperatures have climbed a lot these few days.
Unfortunately the service manager was so excited by the fact there was an update they didn't do any diagnostics or test drive to confirm my issue.
Only did the Reset Fuel Injection learned values.
Proper blind faith in Ford updates to solve all...

I reset these things, and while it didn't improve the knocking/ticking noise, it has improved my fuel economy considerably. I had an average of 12.4/100 which I hadn't reset in a long long time. And in the space of 3 days and maybe 200km's I'm down to 12.2 with no change in driving style.

Hi, sorry for late reply, haven't been to look at this post in a while...
No change at all in consumption or the injector rattle since the PCM update.
Has since been to Ford for a service where i asked them again to check the injectors.
No help at all from them. I can quite clearly hear it but they deny there is any sound at all.
I see Forscan has a service procedure now for resetting MAF values which I tried.
I had cleaned the that sensor as well as the MAP and ACT sensor.
I also tried the turbo vane reset service procedure but it aborts immediately.
It's unfortunate that Forscan doesn't explain how to carry out the procedure.
I'm trying to reset and have the vehicle relearn what parameters I can to see if that helps.

If a procedure aborts then it is not support by the module.
