Hi guys

In forscan you can choose the battery monitor system = 0 for none and 1 = LIN and 2 = PVM

What do each of these do?

I currently have battery set to 85% SOH and setting 1

I am about to connect my DC to DC charger and just want to check optimum setting

OEM battery is AGM and likely to have AGM or Lithium as second battery

Do I need to relearn the battery after it has been disconnected?

Thanks

Glenn

If it has BMS only one is applicable and that is LIN and the module talks to the BCM over LIN.

The optimal setting will always be above what the maximum your main battery charges to SOC. At the moment if your front battery reaches 86% then the alternator will have a snooze until it gets under this.

If using DC to DC then if wired correctly it will not affect this as alternator will be pretty much running all the time.

Do no relearn battery unless you replace it with a new one.

My start battery is original set at 90%, I recently fitted a 110Ah agm second battery through a redarc 25A DCDC charger.

It is now set up to run a caravan fridge that draws 15A off the second battery.

During trials when the van fridge is running if the car is left at idle the Start battery V will drop right down so the draw of the DCDC charger is not keeping the alternator output up.

Seems fine once the engine rpm is increased so just worth keeping an eye on what is happening charge wise after initial install.

Thanks for replies will leave the battery monitor on LIN, and not force a reset.

Testing over today Forscan is showing 14.2 v at idle and it then ranges through the rev range over a 1hr drive. Battery started with 12.8v will see how this translates when the DC charger is running

Best to test at battery. All modules in the vehicle will generally read approx 200mv under. But 14.2v through a module is showing it is alternator working and I would expect the same if DC to DC wired coreectly.
