SSM 47186 - Ranger and Everest/Endeavour Vehicles Equipped with a Diesel Engine - Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0404 Present

Some Ranger/Everest/Endeavour vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may present with DTC P0404. Technicians are advised to check for a stuck/binding Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) actuator concern using IDS software version 108.06 or greater. Ensure the following conditions are met; engine coolant temp > 20°C, battery voltage > 10V, key ON, clear DTC's, key OFF and wait at least 1 minute to ensure full PCM shut down then key ON. If DTC P0404 is still present, clear the DTC’s and carry out the EGR valve learned values reset in Powertrain > Service functions > PCM > Reset the EGR valve learned values. Follow the prompts on screen, then key OFF and wait at least 1 minute to ensure full PCM shut down. Repeat theprocedure if required. If still not successful, carry out normal diagnostics/repair.
