Hi.
I would say that 96deg is correct.
As the thermostat doesn't open until 92 deg it's impossible to run @ 80.
I have a dual core trans cooler and with that I noticed a more constant running temp than a lower one.
It was lower in a way because where my temps were up to 100 towing the temp hovered around 94 after the cooler was fitted.
I consider the temp lowered if it is below the thermostat temp.
I also use an Ultraguage

Also every Scangauge that is either bought with trans temp or uses the PID from their site is incorrect. The math is wrong so it reads wrong.

You could put the correct info into the Scanguage for comparison.

Thanks for the replies, interesting what others vehicles are running, I have a cooler on mine as well (rear mounted under the tray) and with the trans temp at 96 the cooler was still only 70 Deg, the cooler also has a fan that cuts in at 80 Deg which doesn't seem to to be coming on at all, it used too, so something has changed. I have tested the fan and it works Ok, might have to check the temp switch on the cooler.
