Are there any differences between Australian Rangers and European Rangers?

Changes related to Forscan only. This is not for asbuilt talk.

Hi guys,

I own a Ranger Wildtrack 3.2l diesel 6 auto MY 2017 produced in South Africa in late 2016 for the Italian market.
Playing with the non-asbilt part of Forscan I found some settings that I do not know what they are for and others that are apparently inconsistent with my vehicle.

Here are some:

APIM:
- Android Auto Projection Mode - What is it for? On Forscan the function it's disabled. Android Auto by connecting the phone via USB cable works.
- Rear Vehicle Camera - On Forscan the function it's disabled, but the camera is installed and running.
- Front Camera - Is it necessary to have special wiring to install it? Once installed how can you use it?
- Volume Animation On Screen - On Forscan the function it's disabled, but it's already working.

IPC:
- DTE (Distance to Empty) Sensitivity Menu - If I understand what it is for, on Forscan the function it's disabled, but it's already working.
- Remote start - all options - how do they work? Need a remote control different from the original? Do I need additional modules on the vehicle?

BCM:
- Daytime Running Lights - all options - I do not quite understand what all these options are for. My Ranger has the standard daytime running lights, on Forscan all the options are disabled.
- Lock Feedback Horn - I do not know if some form is missing on my pick up. Forscan, in place of enable or disable, writes me error. If I try to enable the function, almost all the modules go in crash !!!

FCIM:
- Temperature setting - what is it for?

RCM:
- Seatbelt warning status - left and right - Forscan says they are both disabled, but the buzzer works if you forget to fasten your seat belts.

Please can you help me to understand what are the settings listed above?
Do the inconsistencies depend on software or hardware differences between European and Australian models?

Hello,
I have more questions for when Stewart or someone else will have time to answer ...

Screenshot (5): How does this work? Do I need special hardware?

Screenshot (6/7): What are they?

BCM: My car don't have the "start and stop" sistem, but on Foscan it result enable. Why?

Thank you

Rangers between here and overseas vary on the model.

Some firmware is different between modules. You can get a extra cab Wildtrak and we cannot. 3.2 in Europe has oil heater, oil temp sensor we do not. It goes on and on.

APIM:
- Android Auto Projection Mode -
** Is enabled on later vehicles, there is no noticeable difference and nothing new in enabled.

- Rear Vehicle Camera - On Forscan the function it's disabled, but the camera is installed and running. ** This is an error and I have made them aware. It will be fixed in the next version.

- Front Camera - Is it necessary to have special wiring to install it? Once installed how can you use it?
** I have not done it nor looked at it, you will have to do your own research. I believe it will require an IMPB module which Rangers do not have.

- Volume Animation On Screen - On Forscan the function it's disabled, but it's already working.
** I didn't add it so who knows.

IPC:
- DTE (Distance to Empty) Sensitivity Menu - If I understand what it is for, on Forscan the function it's disabled, but it's already working.
** Thats's great. It is in vehicle setting and changes sensitive of DTE when towing. Again I do not use it.

- Remote start - all options - how do they work? Need a remote control different from the original? Do I need additional modules on the vehicle?
** They do not work and were carried on from US vehicles. Your BCM, PCM does not support factory remote start.

BCM:
- Daytime Running Lights - all options - I do not quite understand what all these options are for. My Ranger has the standard daytime running lights, on Forscan all the options are disabled.
** If you have standard DRL's and they work then do not touch them. I had it added for Australian PX2 vehicles.

- Lock Feedback Horn - I do not know if some form is missing on my pick up. Forscan, in place of enable or disable, writes me error. If I try to enable the function, almost all the modules go in crash !!!
** Your European IPC firmware probably does not support the change so you cannot change it.

FCIM:
- Temperature setting - what is it for?
** Again, carried on from something overseas. Ignore it.

RCM:
- Seatbelt warning status - left and right - Forscan says they are both disabled, but the buzzer works if you forget to fasten your seat belts.
** Then try disabling it in the IPC.

** You are right it does not work. Sync3 software does not support it at this point in time.

Screenshot (6/7): What are they?
** Do not touch them or other functions may not work, HVAC may not talk or IPC may not talk back and forward etc. They have put all Sync3 options they have together for all vehicles. These options really should not be there even though they exist.

BCM: My car don't have the "start and stop" sistem, but on Foscan it result enable. Why?
** I have no idea, maybe email Forscan and ask them.

As standard on uk rangers, if press lock button twice it deadlocks the car, if a door is not shut properly it beeps the horn twice.

Different firmware in your UK Ranger BCM and that is why. If you cannot write then it is not an option in the firmware.

We do not have deadlocking on these vehicles in AUS. No doubt it was forced on UK vehicles due to insurance requirements.

I beg to differ. We do have deadlocking as described above by m_attt.
if you press the lock button twice it deadlocks the car and beeps the horn once, if a door is not shut properly it beeps the horn twice.

I should be more specific then. PX2, MY15 to MY18, Thai models delivered to Australia do not have deadlocking.

Have you sat in the vehicle and deadlocked it to confirm it is actually deadlocked on a PX3?

In the PX2 it does the same thing to confirm it's locked, it definetly doesn't deadlock the PX2's

Hi Saeb,
I have h15 drl light enable on my car and I really want the turn lights as drl and will use h15 for only high beam. Do I have any chance of doing this?
Do you have any idea pf whay should I change. When I try to enable turn light as drl on bcm I get error and it doesn't do it.

Now the drl is front indicator lights and park lights.

I bought Stedi H15 leds and installed them. They work as drl bu if I want use high beam, it doesn't work. When you switch to low beam without drl it works again as high beam. I wrote to stedi and waiting for an answer.

You must have selected indicator lamps as DRL in the BCM then.

Did you ever have DRL from factory?

Yes Saeb and from factory settings the drl is allways on if I set the light switch to off position or auto. Thats because I don't change anything from the last setting I did.
Now the drl is indicator lights.
The system works like dashboard light, no matter if you switch to off position, they allways light...

There is an option that may help.

I think at the moment you may have 1 instead of 0.

If not I still don’t understand the question so maybe change you globes to ones that are not twin filament.

Saeb thank you for your suggestion. I changed the value to 0 and it solves the problem but now it's night time here and thats because I can not check the drl is working or not.
If drl is working than everything is fine.

Thank you again... :)

Dear Saeb,
When the engine is off, the drl closes if I turn the light switch to zero position but when the engine starts the drl lights run whatever the position of the light switch off or auto...
Switch 0= drl runs
Switch parking position = drl runs (drl was not running before your sugestion)
Switch on = headlights are running without drl
Switch auto= drl runs in sunlight but at darkness headlight runs drl off...

I think at 0 position, drl should be off but maybe because of the safety regulations the factory set the things like this.

When I shut the engine and switch to 0 position, it disables all the lights.

So enable the DRL menu on the cluster then go into lighting and untick the box.

There something wrong that I can not realize what it is. Today I washed the car on a closed parking area and when the enginw is running, when I turn the switch to off position, drl got off...
I will check it again in the morning and tomorrow night.

My car has limited accesory and it don't have side screens on speedo dashboard. There is an lcd small screen on the middle of clusters. I don't know if I can enable drl option on that screen...
