Has anyone converted to LED headlights? I was thinking about changing the headlights, high beam and fog lights to LEDS and was wondering if you guys have any recommendations or advise. I've been looking at reviews on youtube etc and looking at these two. https://www.amazon.com/BEAMTECH-Headlig ... 38CDR?th=1, and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BT6M6Z/re ... en_US&th=1 Are there any issues that you are aware of?

There are a couple of threads.

Do not buy these as they will not fit.

Either Lightforce which are a good colour temp or LLA are your options.

High beam are a pain to put in, I'm just running a pre release set of Lightforce for low beam and am happy.

I have been considering replacing high & low beam in my 2015 Everest Trend with LED globes from STEDI. They appear to have kits specifically designed to fit the Ranger & Everest. Has anyone had any experience with these STEDI LED conversion kits?

I fitted HID's to low & high beams. No issues at all and the low beam now is terrific. Fitted 55w AC so there is no flickering on the globes.

Thanks, I had searched but didn't find anything but as soon as I posted I found one of the threads :-)

I will check out the lightforce and Stedi.
Thank you for your experience as I probably would have mistakenly bought one of the sets I listed in my op.

I think either LLA, Stedi or Lightforce are the options.

With any brand I find the high beam to be too tight a fit and would be careful when adjust the height of the lights. Also inside the highbeam area there are a couple of tabs where the braid can catch onto. I had this issue when playing with the pre release Lightforce LEDS and it was near impossible to remove the light again. I was close to the point of pulling the headlight.

I could be wrong but I believe Lightforce have the lowest colour temp LEDS. 5000k or 5500k, I personally would use these over a 6000k LED any day.

Basically do your research on the above and leave some feedback for other on the end result.

Just checked;

LLA - 6000K 5600 Lumens
Stedi - 5700K 3520 Lumens
Lightforce - 4000K Unknown Lumens

So probably LLA over Stedi for light output, Lightforce over LLA and Stedi for depth of light and colour temperature. Some figures on lumen output of the Lightforce would be nice though.

Keep in mind the Lumen figures may not be accurate and have probably not been tested at a lab in controlled lab environment.

Have just amended the post to read LLA over Stedi and not LLA or Stedi, which I originally intended to type.

I would like a set of LED's in the low beam lights, I will have to look at them closely.

Easy to fit or not.

You would be happy with low beam no matter what. It is a huge improvement over stock.

Lights arrived today and what a difference.

Drivers side done in less than 10 minutes.

Nice white light compared to a dull yellow.

My hands and fingers aren't as supple as they used to be so I had to remove the battery for the passenger side.

The end result was worth the effort.

I chose Stedi as they are around the middle of the 3 performance wise.

I don't want to attract attention because after all, LED Headlights are illegal.

Phone Stedi and ask if your not sure, they will tell you that none of their globes are compliant.

They point out that the packaging they come in has no compliance data on then.

They will tell you that it is up to you to get them compliant.

Of course no one does that so providing they aren't too bright and attract attention all should be good.

Make sure they are adjusted correctly as well.

I asked the guy why would Stedi sell an illegal product.

He said all the info regarding the lights is on their website, you don't have to buy them adding that Stedi is not the only brand that is not compliant.

I put LLA in for lows & stedi in for highs (both brands had only one or the other at the time).

Extremely happy with the result & increase in light/visibility. LLA have done a great job at attempting to locate where the light is directed from to mimic the spread of a filament bulb. You can even see the cut off going into the shoulder & opposite lane.

BUT...

I did notice over time and after some pretty rugged driving on a Fraser Island trip & Redhead beach most weekends that they were starting to annoy other people e.g. they'd adjust their rear mirror or look annoyed when passing.

I inspected the bulbs from outside the headlamp and noticed they'd turned slightly. The body comes in a barrel shape, but the locating collars which click on when depressing an o-ring have seemed to loosen over time and I could no longer see the cut off on the shoulders... So I'd assume the light was going everywhere off the reflectors in the back of the light fitting. I've only had to fix it once in 40,000km, but it's worth mentioning. Everyone seems to be saying they're slamming 4wd enthusiasts for their mods at the moment, especially up QLD way. I've never been pulled up for the LLA lows and I run them most times I drive.

Still extremely happy with the improvement from stock on the lows, but the highs don't seem much brighter... Probably as filaments increase the wattage for higher light output, but maybe the LEDs haven't come as far yet, someone else might have more info? LED spots fixed that problem regardless. My advice would be either LLA or stedi lows and throw in spots for hi... Unless you want the full LED look.

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

That's why I put Stedi in as low beam, most driving is on low.

LLA are bright enough to attract a defect.
