First of all, kudos to Stewart on this forum and of course all of your efforts to gather the awesome info that you so freely share!

@Stewart: I think I once saw on the NewRanger forum that you are / were sussing out some LED headlights for the PX2, right? The more I drive the WT at night the more I get to dislike the headlights (I'm pretty much always on low beams only) and would like to beef them up a bit without blinding oncoming traffic. So looking forward for any advice from you and of course other forum members.

It is happening I'm told.

I do have a pre-production set in my low beam and high beam got sent back to be re-engineered as there were too many issues fitting them in the PX2 XLT, WT offset holes. I did cut bits off them but it just was not going to work.

I will follow it up and see where high beam are at.

yeah I keep getting drawn to the LED options in my local auto shop.

ebay has tonnes but cant tell the quality or if there is canbus issues.

I seen a set in Autobarn that you buy but also need a optional canbus inline cable must keep the amperage precise or something?

Forget the canbus issue as it can be disabled. Also forget most brands for high beam as they will not fit.

I'm still waiting on engineering sample for custom high beams. Running the lows but waiting and waiting..............

You will find the canbus module is actually a canbus and voltage regulator combined. The LED's are still only require 5 volts and if you put 12 volts into them directly they let their smoke out.

What colour temp are they?

I'm starting to lose patience on the high beams. Best I start emailing again.

Thanks. That's not to bad.

I have sent my email and will hopefully hear something positive. These were meant to be 5000k to 5200k which would be great for extra depth.

I would really love to have LED headlights on my Ranger but there simply is not a single legal option for Europe. :(

It's the same here. Not one of these aftermarket LED's would be ADR approved.

I bit the bullet and bought a set of the STEDI LED highbeams and LED parkers. Good service from them, it was sent off the same day I ordered; AusPost's ETA was 20/09 but was delivered on 15/09.

I am fairly happy with these, it is quite a white light (5700K) which has quite a bit of reflection back from signposts but I can live with that. Whilst miles better than the originals I would have liked a little more focused beam though, there are a couple of bright spots fairly close by on the road but then some darker areas further ahead. Its no biggie to me as I use high beams only very occasionally given I hardly drive at night and when I do its mostly in suburbia anyway. I'm not too unhappy with the original lowbeams and decided to not change them. (just yet.... they are very red now compared to the LEDS!).

Was a bit of a pain to fit them especially on the passenger side. Was OK to work there without removing the battery, but the hole where the globe fits into the reflector is not lined up well with the dustcap opening and the globe's heatsink was a tad to long to slide in there at such an angle and I had to use a bit more force than I liked for it to click in. Not much space to nicely spread open the heatsink braid & had to scrounge up a few of these tails and the dustcap further squashed it up when I forced it back. The little LED driver unit just fit in a gap between the reflector and the headlight enclosure, so everything are contained within the headlight unit.

Here some piccie, not the best quality phone camera...

Stedi and Vanquish are the ones Im looking at, they look identical with the same braided heat sink tails.

the Vanquish has more diodes in high beam bulb.
might need to check my car as they advertise the control box keeps low beam on while high beam is switched on, I thought that would be the standard operation? thoughts if people have them.

High beam I would be looking at 4 maximum or the braids end to be too large and are just a nightmare.

Also half of these LED upgrades are such a tight fit that I would be careful when making headlight adjustments. Just take it easy.

XLT Low and high are 2 different globes so both will work together anyway.

Links to Vanquish please? Control boxes etc sounds extremely Chinese rubbish but I will not judge until I see some info.

As an update on my experience thus far:

The light intensity and color temperature of these Stedi High beam LED globes are fantastic; but I do find the bright spots on the road and the dark area further ahead bothersome. STEDI advised me to adjust the headlights up a little bit, but then the lowbeams (factory globes) becomes too high and I get flashed whilst on low beams.

I will play around a bit more with the headlight adjustments next week before I make a decision to return them (I'm away on a business trip this week), Im trying to work out if the high and low beams can be adjusted independently on the Wildtrak.

STEDI was kind enough to offer a full refund if I am not satisfied with it in the end.

The Vanquish ones appear to be the same as I have been running for about 6 months.

I received a full pre-production set from a main player in Australia that was going to make their own but decided on partnering with someone else for testing and although low beam fitted ok, Hi beam would not fit in and after a bit of cutting and grinding I was able too although it was still not 100%

I was advised that they were going to down size the amount of LED's on high beam and make thinner copper heat sinks. 4 months later I do not have an update set to try. Promised the world and well, nothing. I bet 100% these are the same as they are identical to a tea. Even the voltage regulator is identical.

If they have not changed the design then I would get the Stedi ones although I have not tried them so it's up to you at the end of the day.

they look like stedi copies but Vicusj kind of turned me off the Stedi with his review (although it is the first bad review Ive read on them)

Lightbars Aust have had LEDs for along time as Titanium model but the Vanquish is apparently upgraded.

might try and get a sample from them for review.

Hi subzero, i will post an update with piccies when i get to play a little bit more with the headlight adjustment, just to be fair before I completely dismiss the STEDI lights. Flying back home this weekend so will try my best to have a good go at it during next week.

Just as an update to my STEDI high beams - I did get to play around and adjusted the headlights up so much that the low beams are waaay to high blinding the bats but those bright spots from the high beam LEDS are still very annoying and just don't get to reach far enough to spread out better on the road ahead and still with a dark area in the road ahead just about there where your eyes naturally focus at.

I think I missed the boat of a reasonable time-frame to return them for a refund (STEDI did offer a refund) so I will put up with them for now as i really don't use high beams very often. If i do need to drive more at night, I will just put the originals back.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the build quality or light intensity and colour temperature of these STEDI globes, it is just the spread of the lightbeam from the Wildtrak's headlights that needs to be refined a bit. They may be just perfect in other style reflectors than the Wildtraks so I'm not knocking STEDI products at all..

Must have been the weekend for doing this. Also did a complete change with the Stedi globes. Bit fiddly but got it done without to much trouble. Looks heaps better than those god awful yellow lights.
