My Ford Works wiring manual - Ford Ranger 2011-05MY does not for some inane reason include pages 417-01; 02; 03 and 04.
The last page, 417-04 is the wiring diagram showing Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Does anyone have a copy of this page. I'm assuming here that the wiring loom from 2011 onwords allowed for the inclusion of DRL's but for economic reasons they were never included as a standard fixture until late 2018.
I'm a great believer in being seen from far off by oncoming vehicles - especially when I'm touring and towing - so if this is the case and the wiring loom is there but not utilised then I'd like to use it and have operating DRL's

Mine is a 2017 model and DRL's were activated with Forscan, nothing extra needed

Mine is also a 2017, but in order to utilise additional DRL's which came with a new bullbar, I needed to wire into the bcm using a pin kit I sourced from Stewart.
The pin kit is not needed if you just want to use existing lights, like your parkers, as DRL's.

I'll just be utilising the parking lights, they ar equite bright enough to be seen from a distance of around 2 kms in daylight.

I activated the driving lights from the car that are now mounted in the bull bar.
As they are down low they don't bother on coming traffic at all as I put low wattage globes in.
With Forscan you can activate your parkers as DRL

Ford Ranger 2011 to 2015 wiring manual has no relevance against a MY15+ model Ranger vehicle. They are an entirely different vehicle electrically.

Ross can you provide some info on what lamps you put into your fog's? I wanted to do the same to my PX3 I never use my fog lights so was thinking some LED lamps and a tweak in for scan and I could have a set of DRL's for minimal cost.

I put Led globes in mine
I have since changed my DRL to the parkers
I received 2 warnings from the cops that driving lights are not meant to be used in certain areas
I used them all the time without issues but there are cops and there are cops

I installed the pin kit last night, thanks Stewart for your comprehensive instructions, super easy to follow, the only problem I had was down to the lack of flexibility in my ageing body
Having done that I discovered that the drl set I have feeds both wires through a control box with a single feed. Would it be best to use one of the BCM leads to activate a relay, or are there other options that anyone can think of?

No issue with using one feed.River Rat wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:38 am I installed the pin kit last night, thanks Stewart for your comprehensive instructions, super easy to follow, the only problem I had was down to the lack of flexibility in my ageing body

It will depend on the current draw to whether you need a relay or not. Being FETS you could test without and if the DRLs do come on for a limited time then you will need to install a relay. You would also get a DTC that would show there is too much current draw.

Thanks Stewart, I'm thinking that I will use a relay anyway, maybe install a blocking diode in the trigger wire as well, just in case:)saeb wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 5:56 amNo issue with using one feed.River Rat wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:38 am I installed the pin kit last night, thanks Stewart for your comprehensive instructions, super easy to follow, the only problem I had was down to the lack of flexibility in my ageing body

I did wonder if I could just join the two feed wires from the BCM to gain the extra capacity but then I suspected that the BCM would see that as a fault, so gave that idea a miss

Only issue you may encounter is that a relay will not produce any load on the circuit, if so the circuit may well shut down anyway.

The job is completed and works perfectly as required (tested in and out of the shed), many thanks for your help with this Stewart
I did end up using a relay and protected the BCM with a Schottky diode wired into the trigger wire to the relay, probably overkill but I had some left over from a caravan solar installation and I figured better to be safe than sorry

It's got all too complicated so I'll resort to the use of the old fashioned right hand method and simply turn the lights on when driving, the alarm reminds me to turn them off when I turn the ignition off
