I would like to get the park sensors to have a default setting as off. I find they are going off in traffic etc. I turn them off almost all the time. Can this be done? Or can the front ones be turned off all the time? I looked at Forscan but need some more information before changing anything.

Two ways. Either disable the manual switch and add the park aid menu items in the cluster to enable or disable the front sensors at will ( you cannot have the hard button and the menu items together ). This will require manual asbuilt changes in the IPC and PAM or we just tell the PAM that the vehicle only has 4 sensors which means the fronts can never be enabled without asbuilt changes but the manual button will still work to enable disable the rears.

Thoughts on what you would like? Once known I will post the code changes. Further changes may need to be made to the APIM if it's not happy although I have not experienced an issue.

Thanks for the reply Stewart. I would like to have the first option and add the park aid menu items in the cluster. Thanks again this is very much appreciated.

Ok,

IPC 720-02-02 3xxx-xxxx Enable Front and Rear Park Aid Menu

PAM 736-01-01 xxxx 0xxx xx Disable Park Aid Switch LED
PAM 736-01-01 xxxx x0xx xx Disable Park Aid Hard Button

This will give you a new menu in the cluster under driver assist.

You cannot use the front sensors without the rear senors. Pretty sure if they are all off and you select the front sensors then the back turn on also. Been a while since I tried this so let me know the outcome.

Stewart, Gave this a shot today. I was successful getting the park aid menu front and rear display and disabled the button. However I could not disable just the front sensors, it was either both on or both off. And the sensors were always enabled on start up. The result was to move the function of the button to the dash menu, not as easy to turn of the sensors that way though. But I was happy to see the menu and that part was good, at least I did not break it.

Perfect. I probably did not describe probably but what you have done was my meanings.

Enjoy.

I second this.

Basically, It didn't solved your problem.

It's either,

1. Permanemtly disable front sensors, but sucks if you need tge front sensors at times...

OR

2. Just use the original intent: button to turn ON/OFF sensors.

I was hoping to be able to get at least front sensors to default off like the BMW I drove once. With that you had to turn the fronts on if you wanted them. But I have disabled the fronts and left the rears as they are for now. Also got rid of all the annoying alarms while I was at it. So all in all a good result and pleased that Stewart is able to give advise and share his knowledge.
