Hi all,

Installed my Sync 3 unit in my 2016 PX2 XLT last week. Unit is running fine but the navigation seems to wander by quite a margin. Always starts in correct location when switch the vehicle on and goes in the correct direction. However the rate at which it moves at on the map is faster than reality. At the end of a trip we are apparently miles from where we really are. I have removed the GPS antennae from the Sync 2 loom when I installed the new unit and new antennae.

Letting my fingers doing the walking via Dr Google, I have identified as either a dud antennae (came with the unit via HK) or is a setting in the APIM module. I also get the APIM DCT U2101 - Control Module Configuration Incompatible but does not seem to be anything else affected. I have downloaded and reloaded the AsBuilt file but it did not clear the DTC or fix the GPS wander.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Thanks
Cameron

So I reloaded factory as built again. DCT has disappeared but still have the GPS moving at a faster speed than actual. Also noticed that on the small screen on left side of dash it is not displaying the road name as it used to, instead has message "look at touchscreen". Also the clock on the bottom of this screen is blank (--:--) although shows correct time on top of Sync 3 screen.

Have attached a photo of the APIM settings if anyone notices anything. The only thing I saw was the config for the wheel trips under 7D0-03-01 is set at 30 (1D48 xxxx xxxx). This is what the AsBuilt setting is but I have seen posts on other forums suggesting it should 20.

Have supplied a few hundred Sync 3 conversions without that symptom. It this with factory mapping, IOS or Android?

Have you changed asbuilt to be the same as from a 2017 XLT?

You do realise that Sync 2 factory asbuilt is not the same as Sync 3 asbuilt I assume?

Stewart,

Thanks for the response. It is with Factory mapping. Interestingly, if I use Waze on Android Auto, it displays correctly. If we use Waze on my wife's iPhone, it has the same wandering problem. I assume my Android is using internal phone mechanism for GPS location, and iPhone uses the vehicles. Haven't located an alternative 2017 XLT Asbuilt file as yet (assuming they all came with Sync 3).

Another change I have noted it that it is now displaying the street names, etc, in the small screen on the left of the dash where before was blank. It is also displaying the time now. Hadn't changed anything, just started working again.

Android Auto will display names in left hand screen side where it is not supported with Carplay.

Clock will reset itself, if not change the up and down 1 hour on the Sync3 and it will instantly fix it.

Stewart, all good now. Not sure if I missed a step previously but reloaded my original Asbuilt file and then did module reset. Started doing the wander again with Sync navi, but about 10kms in came good. Clock is also displaying correctly in the left dash screen. So all is good with the world.
