Just thinking out loud here and probably fantasizing, but since I started monitoring EGR, I notice that there are certain conditions when it is inoperative... i.e. 0% open. This happens on first, cold startup, under full acceleration and also during DPF burn-off.
So I figure there must be a 'signal' somewhere that tells the egr to close. Using something like Forscan, or perhaps Stewart's PID scanner, would it be possible to 'compare' normal operating mode with EGR closed mode and come up with a modification (in Forscan?) to render the EGR inoperative permanently?
I know... tell him he's dreamin'... ...but, maybe not?
Cheers

Why would you Gerry?
You would end up with a blocked DPF and then an inoperable vehicle unless you removed the DFP altogether. All the Everest/Ranger is doing is measuring back pressure (sensor for and after DPF) then when it reads a certain % differential is initiates the burn.
I bet a resister across one sensor but leaving them plugged in with a straight through pipe would see the computer thing there is a low percentage of back pressure then not initiate the burn.
Food for thought.

I'm a tad confused... why would disabling the EGR cause the DPF to block? The EGR actually closes during a burn-off (according to my Scangauge), so it's not needed to regulate the burn temp's.
Are you also saying then, that an EGR blanking plate should not be fitted to a vehicle with a DPF?

No Gerry, I'm saying that I'm tired and read what you posted wrong so I retract what I said and will go to bed.GerryP wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 10:31 pm I'm a tad confused... why would disabling the EGR cause the DPF to block? Let me get some rest and rethink it all. Sorry mate, big week.

Haha, sleep deprivation will do that Stewart.

That's a very interesting link Mick, so it appears it can certainly be done. I also note that they do it through the OBD port... there is hope!
Thanks for the link mate.

Gerry I'm awake now.
As far as I know EGR or DPF delete has not been sorted on the Everest/Ranger. If it happens it will most likely come from Europe and trickle down to most tuners in Australia. There is no changes that could be done in any asbuilt file as everything is held in the calibration file in the PCM.
If you delete the EGR you would also want a re-tune anyway as it is tuned to take advantage of a working EGR system.
Ktag or other at this stage still requires the PCM be removed from the vehicle, cracked open, then the correct chip to be unlocked, reassembled, installed back in the vehicle before you start changing calibration files via obd.
DPF simulator is what is says and does not delete EGR.
You're dreaming unfortunately. Fit that ProVent and stop over thinking.

Hahaha, yes... guilty
Thanks for your reply and clarification though.
Provent is already in mate.

The EGR can be disable but but not simply via Obd.
At this point in time the Ecu needs to be Removed and opened and the Anti-tune protection built in to the Tricore Processor,Be disabled on bench . Once this has been performed the factory calibration file can be altered and Reflashed over Obd.
