The computer based version is free, have at look at.. http://www.forscan.org/home.html

Most stuff can be changes with that version but if you want to change some of the 'asbuilt' fields you will need an extended licence - that's also free and the instructions are in the forscan forum.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my Sync 2 with a Sync 3 head unit. Is any programming required?
