Hi fellas I have this problem with my PX1 i blew thew low beam bulb LHS and didn't replace it for months as i wasn't using much and was flatout with work anyway I bought a Stedi led bulb kit with decoders and fitted it all up still no low beam Hmmm, google then tells me the BCM needs resetting so I message a auto elec Ive used in the past specifically asking can he reset my BCM? he say's yes, well i turn up he's blaming the Led lights my spot lights and anything else ive done.
Im saying its been like this for years and it blew a bulb can you reset the BCM ? well 1/2 hour later he says no i cant do it but the bloke next door can but he'll charge me $30 to do it, so he drives my car next door comes back all fixed $85 I just paid him and left pissed off because i feel ive paid twice anyway next day LHS low beam is out again. What do i need to buy to be able to diagnose and reset these things myself.

Hi Bill68 I still have the same issue and strange enough it is also the lh side. I also went to someone to get it fixed, worked for a day or two and the lh side is not working again./ I would also like to know if there is a easier way to get this fixed by yourself as every time to go to sparkie is costing money. I was thinking to bypass the BCM completely for the lights, is there anybody out there that can advise if this is a good or bad idea.

Hi Skieppie I read of another bloke with the same problem and he just ran a wire from the RHS low beam to a relay to the LHS low beam until he finds a solution.Skieppie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 3:27 pm Hi Bill68 I still have the same issue and strange enough it is also the lh side. I will be doing this ASAP as this BCM idea has flies on it, Id also thought of completely bypassing it myself

If it keeps tripping then there is an issue. PX1 has a finite amount of time that you can reset the headlight circuit before the FETs say no more.Bill68 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:56 am Hi fellas I have this problem with my PX1 i blew thew low beam bulb LHS and didn't replace it for months as i wasn't using much and was flatout with work anyway I bought a Stedi led bulb kit with decoders and fitted it all up still no low beam Hmmm, google then tells me the BCM needs resetting so I message a auto elec Ive used in the past specifically asking can he reset my BCM? he say's yes, well i turn up he's blaming the Led lights my spot lights and anything else ive done.

So yes you can reset with Forscan but do not keep doing it.
If you have LED inserts then it is a guarantee the ballasts are tired and are drawing to much current on start up at times. So he is fair to blame the LED lights.

Hi saeb this is brand new oem globes from ford that was fitted after the sparkie done his thing to reset the BCM and i still have an issue with the lh side low beam. Do you think it is possible to bypass the BCM completely.saeb wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 12:35 pmIf it keeps tripping then there is an issue. When you say a issue are you saying a short? because all the Stedi gear was brand new at the time of getting it reset.saeb wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 12:35 pmIf it keeps tripping then there is an issue. Thread is confusing with 2 different people.
Skieppie. If you cannot find any hardware issues then it may well be the BCM has an issue and is not a wiring or globe fault but as above the option may well be to have relays fitted or a relay fitted so it can trigger the other headlight. Weak FETs may cause the above issue but having no way to confirm then bypass.
Bill68. Stedi may be new, but it is still probably made in China to a price. Then again 99% of brands are. How good are the caps in them amongst other components. It is an unknown. If I had a PX1 running LEDs or higher wattage globes then I would cover myself and put relays on the circuits. Being I do not have a PX1 myself a load resistor may still be required on the circuit for them to work is all. Put a amp meter on half of these LEDs and the current draw on start-up is all over the place. I had a Chinese voltage regulator blow up and melt in one and then I had a light force one also do it. Brand is a sticker most of the time.
Underlying issue is probably worn out FETs in the BCM if everyone can rule out wiring issues. The only real fix may end up by replacing the BCM.
Just my opinions anyway. More than happy to hear others.

Thank you for your reply and yes I can agree with what your saying about brands I will wire in some relays and have another go at reseting the Bcm.saeb wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 3:42 pm Thread is confusing with 2 different people.

Like I said above though the only issue that might crop up is if the BCM expects to see load and if none is present then it may also shut the circuit down. You could test this by unplugging the headlights and turning them on for a few minutes and see if a fault code is present.
Maybe test the above before putting relays on everything or at least make it easy to revert.
Who know you may get lucky and find the DTC if present is the same.
Time will tell.
