Ford said i need to get it towed to them but i am 50kms away..

Any thoughts

If you have been driving it and it only goes into limp mode at 100kmh why can you not drive it 50km and stay under 100kph.

If I could do 80kph I would drive it.

What is the actual fault code number you are getting?

ok all so the code keeps coming back randomly..

my car was unused for 9 months and had its battery replaced with a new one 3 weeks ago.

yesterday morning it threw the same code and spanner. I pulled over turned the key off reset the code with utraguage and drove for the rest of the day no issues. I then drove the car again this morning and the code and limp came up again with in exactly the same kms. same again I pulled over turned off the ignition reset the code and continued my journey for 50kms with no reoccurrence.

so I have doen 1000kms since the battery replacement and the limp mode hase occurred 4 times but has reset and not come back at times for days ..

any thoughts please...do I need ford to reload software

There is a lot of conflicting info online with this code but have a look at the attached page.

https://www.troublecodes.net/ucodes/u0001/

Why was the car parked? did have a problem? Have you done other work on it?

Have you had a mouse / Rat problem in that time?

Has it been on the beach/salt water

As you have replaced the battery make sure you have not left an earth wire off and as per the link make sure all the body/engine earth points are clean and good.

It was in a Panel beaters getting new tray towbar etc etc etc. no front end damage at all. so it sat with a flat battery for weeks...

If an earth was off it would throw the code all the time I would have thought.

its not a 4wd its a 2wd

Ok. A good rule to follow is to look where work has been done.

I would be looking at all the rear wiring for damage and connectors where the tray and tow bar were done. Plugs not pushed together properly or damaged pins when plugs were reconnected. Sometimes pins get pushed out on plug reassembly. Wires damaged from the tray when removing or refitting. Look for damage new or different tape on the wiring looms.

Also that if a trailer light control module was fitted is it correct.

The code is saying a communications error, that could be caused by a wire rubbing intermittently.
